About me

Hey there! My name is Michelle Ford, and I'm a graduate of the International Development student at the University of Waterloo, currently doing my Masters in Disaster and Emergency Management at Royal Roads University. My interest in International Development spurred 6 years ago when I lived and taught English in Ecuador for 3 months through my high school. My passion is in the cities of the third world and how they can contribute to alleviating poverty as well as managing disaster situations. I am also really interested in how climate change plays a role in natural disasters. I have lived and worked for a small Vietnamese not-for profit called Sustainable Rural Development (http://www.srd.org.vn/) which is why I started this blog, and my next big adventure is interning at the United Nation's Post-Conflict and Disaster Management Branch in Geneva, Switzerland from December 2015 to April 2016.

I am funding my own education and my living costs for this internship on my own, so I am trying to raise some donations to help me cover those expenses! You can find my fundraiser at http://www.youcaring.com/project-fundraiser/help-me-achieve-my-united-nations-dream-/336366#gallery.Thanks for your support!.
